    We are building Concept 4

Concept one employs a base that extends out of the ground at a 45 degree angle to the north. Certainly this can't be done in the gallery, however, with very little earth work, I believe it can be readily accomplished in the garden. We might have to temporarily move one of the plants that would set between the two concrete pads shown. The base can be made of fabricated metal plate, or even Corten steel to respect the existing sculpture in the garden. The upper elements would be machined aluminum in either a bright machined finish like Stiletto or dark anodized like the sample provided. If it were to be bright, the elements would be powder coated which is basically clear electrostatic paint. This coating would preserve
the machined finish and be totally impervious to the elements. If the upper elements were dark anodized, there would be no need to employ any type of coating.

The basic elements of the machined portion are cubic and rectilinear, however there are two cylindrical elements on either side that allude to some
type of functionality, perhaps even suggestive of hydraulic cylinders. I believe this concept would lead people out along the path of the garden and be very recognizable from the street depending on the scale. Certainly the angled base would create a sense of drama. While scale is directionally proportional to cost, I imagine this concept to be in the range of 4'-0" to 5'-0" tall - could be smaller - could be taller. At this scale the cubes would be approximately 8"per side.

I have other iterations of this piece with different configurations for the base should the earth work for this one prove to be too disturbing to the site.
